Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has introduced a program called “Golden Chance,” which allows drivers’ licenses from countries including Pakistan, India, and the Philippines to be exchanged for local ones without the need for additional driver education.
Before this program, drivers from countries not on the approved list had to complete a driving course and pass a test before they could exchange their license for a local one. Expats from certain nations need to merely pass a theoretical and driving exam to join the club.
Visitors from the authorized countries can exchange licenses at any RTA location. Some examples of these locations are France, Hong Kong, Denmark, Ireland, Canada, the United States, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and so on.
To obtain a license to drive in Dubai, expats from countries like Lithuania and Greece must first submit their home country’s equivalent.
If you are over 18 and have never driven before, you can take driving lessons in the country at one of the following
Locations to get this license
- Dubai Driving Center,
- Galadari Motor Driving Center,
- Belhasa Driving Center, and
- Al Ahli Driving Center are all branches of the Emirates Driving Institute.
Dubai’s New Bike Tunnel
The RTA recently constructed a bicycle tunnel in Dubai’s Al Meydan neighborhood, with the ability to accommodate 800 bicycles per hour. RTA’s goal is to make it a bicycle-friendly city, therefore they built a tunnel that is over 160 meters long and 6.6 meters wide. The tunnel provides a safe and traffic-free route for bikers to get some exercise and enjoy the outdoors.
