Google, the search engine behemoth, has announced that it will provide $75 million in grants to workforce development and education groups to teach Americans how to use artificial intelligence.
“AI offers significant opportunities to accelerate economic growth, particularly if people have access to the right resources and training,” Google’s senior vice president for research, technology and society, James Manyika, said in a release.
The tech corporation is also introducing an online course called “Google AI Essentials” to educate foundational AI skills and best practices.
This course costs $49 on Coursera and includes a 10-hour curriculum that will offer candidates with AI abilities useful to their day-to-day employment. After finishing the course, students will receive a certificate.
Tech-savvy Workforce
Miami Dade College and Darden Executive Education and Lifelong Learning will offer the course to students and working professionals, while Citigroup will utilise it to train its workers.
The education project is part of Google’s efforts to close the skill gap generated by rapid technological innovation.
Given the growing demand for technology, Google gives grants and courses to assist create a more tech-savvy workforce.
