People on the internet are perplexed when a Google bug started displaying the Pakistani Rupee’s exchange rate for the US Dollar (USD to PKR) as Rs. 207.10 on July 28, 2022. The local currency hasn’t recovered, though, and Google’s error in reporting the erroneous conversion rate is all that’s happened.
It is important to note that on July 28, 2022 (Thursday), the Pakistan Rupee (PKR) went as high as Rs. 240 during intraday trading before closing at a record low of Rs. 239.94 versus the US Dollar (USD) in the interbank market. The open market rate for the dollar has already surpassed Rs. 245.
The Pakistani Rupee has been among the worst performing currencies in the world, falling about 8% versus the US Dollar in the most recent trading week as concerns about the country’s economy grow in the midst of the ongoing political turmoil. In the meantime, with inflation at its highest point in more than a decade, the foreign reserves have decreased to below $10 billion.
However, a Google malfunction kept the public in the dark regarding the Pakistani Rupee’s exchange rate for the US Dollar (USD to PKR), displaying the current rate as Rs. 207.10.
