Gamers Galaxy, Pakistan’s largest esports event, presented by Mountain Dew and hosted by Galaxy Racer, closed after two days of activities, tournaments, meet-and-greets, panels with the country’s most prominent content creators, entertainment, and more.
The all-inclusive esports festival was started by His Highness, Sheikh Ahmed Dalmook Al Maktoum of the United Arab Emirates at the Pak-China Friendship Centre in Islamabad on Saturday, January 8th (UAE). President Dr. Arif Alvi also made a virtual appearance at the event.
Valorant, HER Galaxy Valorant Spike Rush 2v2, FIFA 22, and Tekken tournament finals were among the highlights of the esports festival, which also included a dazzling performance by singer Shamoon Ismail.
The esports event, which was organised by Galaxy Racer Pakistan, was funded by the Special Technology Zones Authority as part of its aim to promote the growth of the esports business in Pakistan.
On the second day, the Mountain Dew Gamers Galaxy Finals began, as eager fans flocked to watch Pakistan’s best esports action. With 2,500,000 Pakistani Rupees, Team Exploit Storm was declared Mountain Dew’s Valorant champion, while Salman Haider Syed and Arslan Ash were crowned FIFA 22 and Tekken winners, respectively. The former received Rs. 500,000 in cash, while the latter received Rs. 600,000.
For their participation, 16 PUBG Mobile Gamers Galaxy teams were each given Rs. 200,000. The finals will take held next week, with the victorious team receiving a monetary award of Rs. 5 million.
The HER Galaxy Valorant Spike Rush 2v2 competition featured thrilling esports action. With a cash reward of 250,000 Pakistani Rupees, Team Joon-He became Pakistan’s first-ever female esports championship champions.
During a panel discussion led by Haroon Tahir, an outstanding line-up of popular influencers like Taimoor “Mooroo” Salauddin, Khaqan Shanawaz, Junaid Akram “Ganjiswag,” and gaming icon Brownlad explored the Path of Content Creation.
Industry experts Abdul Haseeb Khan aka HSB (Professional Esports Athlete), Khawar Naeem (Country Head Pakistan for Tencent Games), Walid Singer (Chief of Staff for Galaxy Racer), and Hina Nasir (Head of Marketing and PR for Special Technology Zones Authority) discussed the Evolution of Esports.
Visitors wanting to learn about the future of content development and esports in Pakistan were captivated by the panel discussions.
The world-renowned toy company L.O.L. Surprise! made its first-ever debut in Pakistan during the festival, in addition to a wide range of events and open tournaments.
The last day of the Mountain Dew Gamers Galaxy was capped off with a magnificent headline performance by vocalist Shamoon Ismail.
Following the conclusion of Mountain Dew Gamers Galaxy, Fakhr-e-Alam, Galaxy Racer’s Country CEO and Partner, said: “I am speechless about the huge turnout. I have never witnessed a gaming tournament of this level in Pakistan. The passion of the gamers was exceptional and we wish to continue hosting such events in the future.”
Galaxy Racer, following the success of Mountain Dew Gamers Galaxy, is creating Pakistan’s first professional esports competition, the ‘Supreme Galactic League,’ which will feature eight teams, two of which have already committed, according to Fakhr-e-Alam. He also announced Scholars Galaxy, a national inter-school and collegiate esports competition.
