The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested five officers from the National Cybercrime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), including Additional Director Sarfaraz Chaudhry. According to FIA sources, the arrests followed an internal inquiry into alleged misconduct within the cybercrime agency. The operation was carried out in Lahore, and all detained officers are now in FIA custody for further questioning and investigation.
Anti-Corruption Circle Leads the Investigation
The FIA Anti-Corruption Circle led the inquiry that resulted in these arrests. Officials revealed that evidence collected during the investigation pointed to irregular activities by certain NCCIA officials. Based on this evidence, the FIA decided to take action against the accused officers to ensure accountability and uphold transparency within the agency’s operations. The probe is expected to expand in the coming days.
Officers to Appear Before Lahore District Court
According to reports, the arrested officers, including Sarfaraz Chaudhry, will be presented before the Lahore District Court today. Legal proceedings will determine whether the FIA will request further physical remand for additional investigation. The case has drawn significant public attention, given the senior position of the accused officer within the cybercrime agency.
Defense Lawyer Appointed for the Accused
Sources confirmed that the accused officers have appointed renowned lawyer Mian Ali Ashfaq to represent them in court. The defense team is expected to argue that the arrests were made without sufficient evidence. Meanwhile, the FIA remains firm on its stance that the arrests were based on credible proof and part of its ongoing mission to ensure integrity within federal institutions.
