Former New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori believes Pakistan’s all-round captain, Babar Azam, is the best batter in the world right now.
While there are numerous world-class batters on the tour right now, according to Vettori, no one is better than Babar, who has consistently performed in all three formats of the game over the past few years.
During an interview with ESPNcricinfo, Vettori stated that Babar’s outstanding efforts in the recent series against Australia make him the top batter in the world.
Babar, the only batter in the world to be ranked in the top ten in all three formats, has been nothing short of incredible in recent years.
He has been outstanding for the Men in Green across all three forms, and his latest heroics in the series against Australia have been much lauded by the cricketing community.
The flamboyant hitter performed an innings of a lifetime, scoring 196 in the fourth innings of the second Test between Pakistan and Australia, saving Pakistan from defeat.
In the three-match ODI series, the world number one ODI and T20I batsman scored two hundred and one half-century.
His outstanding performances earned him the series MVP award as he led his team to a 2-1 series victory.
