Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has finally unveiled the production model of the Togg SUV, hailed as the country’s first domestically built electric vehicle (EV). The initial Togg prototypes were presented in December 2019, and since then the firm has advanced quickly, with a tonne of new models in development that will likely be published soon.
According to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the first indigenous car in Turkey embodies the pride of all 85 million Turks and has fulfilled a 60-year-old ambition. He further emphasised that it is the first tangible undertaking under the Century of Türkiye vision.
Erdogan, top government officials, as well as other authorities and visitors, attended the opening of Togg in Gemlik, where the production plant is located, on October 29, the day Turkey commemorated the 99th anniversary of its founding. Turkey said:
“Togg is the name of the project and allows us to enjoy this shared dream for our country’s powerful future. With this first vehicle we rolled off the series production line, we are witnessing a 60-year-old dream come true. Therefore, we say Togg is the shared pride of Turkey and 85 million people.”
