Elon Musk, Tesla and SpaceX founder has denied to join the board of Twitter, said the Twitter’s chief executive Parag Agrawal.
Agrawal said in a Tweet, “the board and I had discussions about Musk joining the board, and with Musk directly too. We believed that having Elon as a trustee of the company where he, like all board members, has to act in the best interest of the company and all our investors, was the best step ahead. We were exhilarated to team up and clear about the risks. The board offered him a seat.”
He wrote, “Elon’s appointment to the board was to become officially successful 4/9, but Elon shared the same morning that he will no longer be joining the board. I believe this is for the best.”
Last week, he had even posted a poll about whether Twitter should announce an edit button. The growth comes days after Musk revealed picking up a 9.2% stake in Twitter.
Agrawal posted on Twitter last week that he was “excited” that Musk would join the board of Twitter. Later Musk revealed a 9.2% stake in the industry and became its largest investor.
“There will be diversions ahead, but our objectives and prime concerns remain constant. The conclusion we make and how we implement is in our hands, not in others.” Let’s tune out the noise, and stay focused on the work and what we are building.”
Minutes following Agrawal’s tweet, Elon tweeted a giggling emoji leaving users chaotic.
Some Twitter members of staff were worried that Elon’s appointment to the board of directors might threaten the company’s capacity to moderate content.
Musk recently polled Twitter followers on whether the company’s headquarters should be converted into a homeless refuge, an idea favored by Amazon.com Inc. founder Jeff Bezos.
On Saturday, he recommended changes to the Twitter Blue premium membership service, including decreasing the price, banning advertising, and enabling users to pay in dogecoin.
