As preparations for the general elections keep occurring, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is developing a digital app for international users.
Development of a Digital App by ECP
According to sources, the commission has ordered the issuance of cards for international observers in exchange for timely provision of relevant information via a digital information app.
Furthermore, in the final stages, this app will include special features such as the ability to print Accreditation Cards.
Moreover, users can also apply for visas through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ online service using this app.
Comprehensive List of International Observers
However, a comprehensive list of international observers will be provided to the Election Commission (ECP) by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to ECP sources, the Ministry of Interior will conduct security clearance for these users.
Furthermore, correspondence was sent to a number of organizations, including the European Union and the Commonwealth of Nations.
Moreover, a desk will be set up at the Central Secretariat in Islamabad to assist users.
Service Centers
However, for convenience, service centers will be established in the offices of all four provincial election commissioners.
According to Section 238 of the Election Act 2017, the Election Commission’s policy for international observers is the Open Door Policy.
According to the Election Commission, rules will be developed under Section 238 of the Election Act to grant accreditation to international and national observers.
