Sources said a small earthquake hit Karachi today, Monday The National Seismic Monitoring Centre reported it was 22 kilometres deep and 15 kilometres northeast of Karachi. Defence and Clifton were affected.
People saw scared individuals praying outside. Witnesses didn’t report any damage or injuries.
This is Karachi’s third small earthquake recently. On May 2, an earthquake hit Gadap Town, Kathore, and nearby Malir areas.
That earthquake’s centre was 38 kilometres northeast of Malir. It was 84 kilometres deep, according to NSMC.
Another earthquake hit Malir on April 24. The World Bank said Pakistan’s earthquake risks grew since 2005. They said a similar quake today might cost $2.8 billion in property damage.
