Dubai Customs & Metaverse
The organization’s unwavering commitment to modernization and smart solutions highlights its role as a forerunner in the world of customs and commerce.
Director General Ahmad Mahboob Musabih made a historic revelation, revealing Dubai Customs‘ trailblazing proposal to revolutionise customs leadership development programmes by combining cutting-edge “Metaverse” technology.
This foresight is an important step towards realising the full potential of innovative technologies such as Metaverse, which have the ability to alter customs operations in new ways.
Musabih’s bold vision for the future of customs is fully aligned with the ambitious “Dubai Metaverse Strategy” launched by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, with the goal of positioning UAE at the forefront of the global Metaverse community and cementing its status as one of the world’s top ten cities in this field.
By embracing the Metaverse’s promise, Dubai Customs is taking a huge step towards a smarter, more efficient, and more innovative future.
The Metaverse training programme, according to Mohammed Al Ghaffari, Executive Director, Human Resources, Finance and Administration Division, focused on providing a detailed explanation of the technology’s ability to transform customs operations and provide innovative technological solutions that contribute to increasing customs revenues as a result of digitization, thereby enhancing Dubai’s regional and global position.
The training programme also discussed the benefits and potential obstacles of using Metaverse in the customs sector, exposing the larger issues and emphasising the significance of using the technology securely.
Al Ghafari further stated that the customs leadership development programme was implemented to align with Dubai Customs’ 2021-2026 strategic plan.
Through three training modules, the programme focuses on merging academic and practical learning: Innovative Customs Management, Digitization of Customs Operations, and Agile Leadership.
In conjunction with the University of Dubai, the Customs Leadership Development Centre in the Human Resources Division played a critical role in ensuring the program’s continuation and sustainability.
In its sixth batch, the programme graduated 16 inspection managers, as well as 137 employees from all functional areas in the previous five batches.
Dubai Customs continues to set the standard for technical advancements and innovative customs programmes, cementing its position as a global leader in customs and trade.
