After security officials warned of terrorist attacks on government buildings and other critical facilities, Sindh’s Home Department has issued a ban on the use of drones in Karachi’s District South.
The Home Department stated in an official notice that Karachi Police had requested a restriction on drone usage in District South after DIG South Karachi warned of terrorist attacks on foreign embassies, diplomats’ houses, government offices, and other significant structures.
The prohibition is effective immediately and will last for the next two months, according to the notification, which also specified that Karachi Police must take all necessary measures to protect the safety of various vital structures.
The news comes only weeks after a female suicide bomber detonated a bomb outside a Confucius Institute vehicle at Karachi University, killing four people, including three Chinese language professors.
According to the authorities, explosive material intended for lawful usage by construction businesses is frequently sold illegally and employed in terrorist actions. The accused had been apprehended and interrogated by the police.
On the same day, a Karachi officer escaped an assassination attempt in broad daylight in the Bhimpura neighborhood. One of the shots that impacted the cop’s shoulders came from the shooter. The shooting event caused terror in the neighborhood.
With an injured shoulder, the valiant officer attempted but failed to apprehend the assailant. The officer was sent to a local hospital for treatment.
