Avaya, headquartered in Durham, North Carolina, is an American multinational technology firm that specializes in cloud communications and workstream collaboration solutions. The Avaya OneCloud experience platform offers unified communications as a service (UCaaS), contact center as a service (CCaaS), cloud computing as a service (CPaaS), and services.
Moreover, Avaya is the world’s largest pure-play UC and cloud communications Company, with 220,000 customer locations in 190 countries and a market share of No. 1 in CC and No. 2 in UC and collaboration. The company made $2.9 billion in revenue in FY20, with software and services accounting for 88 percent of that.
In addition, VPNet Technologies, VISTA Information Technologies, Quintus, RouteScience, Tenovis, Spectel, NimCat Networks, Traverse Networks, Agile Software NZ Limited, Konftel, Sipera, Aurix, Radvision, and Esnatech are among the firms that Avaya has sold or purchased since 2001.
Now, assets connected to Nortel’s Enterprise Voice and Data business segments were auctioned during the company’s bankruptcy proceedings. Avaya won the assets with a $900 million proposal and was declared as the winner on September 14, 2009.
Furthermore, Performance Engineering Corporation (later PEC Solutions) was founded in 1985 with the goal of providing technological services to government clients. Nortel acquired PEC Solutions on June 6, 2005, forming Nortel PEC Solutions. Nortel PEC Solutions was renamed Nortel Government Solutions on January 18, 2006.
As part of Nortel’s asset sale, Avaya purchased the company’s government business on December 21, 2009. In October 2019, Avaya and RingCentral announced a strategic agreement to launch Avaya Cloud Office (“ACO”), a new unified communications as a service (UCaaS) solution.
In addition, RingCentral also made a $500 million investment to become the exclusive provider of Avaya’s new UCaaS offering.
