Following the launch of new generations for the 2021 model year, the 2022 Chevy Tahoe and 2022 Chevy Suburban bring a few minor tweaks and updates. GM Authority has learned that the heated and ventilated front seats options on both vehicles are no longer restricted.
According to GM Authority sources, the heated and ventilated features restrictions on the 2022 Chevy Tahoe and 2022 Chevy Suburban were eliminated as of April 18th manufacturing. As a result, all 2022 Chevy Tahoe and 2022 Chevy Suburban units that would ordinarily be equipped with heated and ventilated front seats will be equipped with such options once again.
RPO code KA1 is assigned to heated front seats, whilst RPO code KQV is assigned to ventilated front seats. Both upgrades were previously only available between March 14th and April 17th for the 2022 Chevy Tahoe and 2022 Chevy Suburban.
As previously said, affected units will come with a vehicle window label indicating which functionalities are missing.
Where applicable, a credit will be given to affected units. Customers who bought a car with the restricted heated and ventilated seats will be eligible for a dealer upgrade later this year.
Heated seats are standard on the LT, RST, Z71, Premier, and High Country trim levels, but they aren’t available on the LS.
Meanwhile, on the Premier and High Country trim levels, ventilated seats are usually included as standard equipment. The heated and ventilated seat production limits had no effect on the High Country trims.
As a result of the global microprocessor shortage, several additional GM vehicles, including all four of the company’s U.S. brands, have been restricted from having heated and ventilated seats.
Constraints for ventilated and heated seats have also been imposed on the Chevy Blazer, Chevy Colorado, Chevy Equinox, Chevy Silverado, Chevy Trailblazer, and Chevy Traverse models.
The naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine, and the 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax are all possible engine options for the 2022 Chevy Tahoe and 2022 Chevy Suburban. Both vehicles are built on the GM T1 platform at the GM Arlington factory in Texas.
