Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Opposition Leader Raja Riaz have until today to decide on the caretaker prime minister’s name. A parliamentary committee will be consulted if the name is not decided.
The National Assembly was dissolved three days ago, but the caretaker prime minister’s name has not yet been determined.
President Gave Ultimatum to Select Caretaker PM Name by Today
President Dr. Arif Alvi has also requested that Raja Riaz, the leader of the opposition, and PM Shehbaz provide a consensus candidate for the caretaker prime minister today.
In order to choose a candidate who would be accepted by allies, the prime minister held talks with them on Friday night.
Shehbaz Sharif claimed that Raja Riaz had been contacted on the appointment of a caretaker prime minister and that he would speak with him again today (Saturday).
He also critiqued the President, saying it was unfortunate that he had written to him on the choice of the caretaker prime minister. He indicated there were eight days till this appointment.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, on the other hand, has backed the notion of running for office while making seat modifications with affiliated parties.
The interim PM would be chosen by tonight or tomorrow (Saturday), according to Prime Minister Sharif earlier on Friday.
Speaking casually to media, he made these comments and said that although there had been numerous difficulties over the previous 16 months, serving as prime minister during that time had been his most challenging political responsibility.
The PM emphasized that the PTI government’s foolish and careless behavior cost the country because it harmed relations with friendly nations.
The chief executive noted that it appeared the president was in a hurry to compose a letter and stated that the choice on the caretaker prime minister will be made by tonight or tomorrow.
In addition to stressing that consultation with allies would take place tonight, the PM stated that if no decision was taken in three days, the parliamentary committee would make a decision in three days and if that failed, the Election Commission would investigate the situation.
He harshly accused the PTI chairman, saying that he was tolerating his opposition in the same way that he did while utterly damaging relations with other foreign governments, especially the United States.
The coalition parties in the government were called to gather on Friday by the prime minister, Shehbaz Sharif, to discuss the prospect of changing seats in the elections scheduled for 2023.
He remarked at a dinner held in their honor that while allied parties had their own manifestos and would support their candidates, they should endeavor to get seat changes made in the elections given the difficulties the nation was facing.
He said, “I wholly support seat adjustment among the coalition partners. The consultation will continue for seat adjustment in the elections.”
