There is a pressing need for new approaches to treating and enhancing cardiovascular health, yet these approaches frequently fall short of patient needs because all necessary parties were not consulted early enough in the research process to guarantee patient, payer, and provider approval.
The American Heart Association, a global force for longer, healthier lives for everyone, and the UCSF Rosenman Institute announce a new partnership, the UCSF Rosenman Institute BUILD(TM) Heart Health initiative, to aid innovators and stakeholders in working together to thread this needle.
The program is set up as an 11-month cycle of fully paid fellowships with the goal of educating the following group of health technology business owners. With a focus on cutting-edge cardiovascular health technology solutions, the BUILD Heart Health program will offer an environment that supports innovators in connecting with and integrating all necessary stakeholders and aspects of development.
The American Heart Association reports that for many years, cardiovascular disease has been the main cause of mortality for people in the United States.
Sam Hawgood, MBBS, UCSF Chancellor and Arthur and Toni Rembe Rock Distinguished Professor, said, “Establishing a strong route for learning how to connect with all crucial stakeholders at the right time, in the right way, is essential for guaranteeing a streamlined, efficient innovation process.”
“This program is well situated to give future leaders the tools and skills they need to succeed as innovators in the cardiovascular field and is in line with UCSF’s objective to promote healthcare globally. We are thrilled to work with the American Heart Association in this exciting field of health technology.”
The program will give participants access to tools and professional networks to jump-start successful innovation initiatives. In order to create successful services, products, and businesses that enhance cardiovascular health, each cycle of the BUILD Heart Health program is designed around team-based educational opportunities, coaching from seasoned businesspeople and subject matter experts, and access to an advisory board and a clinical board.
