The men’s England trip to Pakistan, which begins on Thursday in Rawalpindi and consists of three Test matches, will be covered by BBC’s renowned Test Match Special. The TMS, which is already in its 65th year, also gave commentary during England’s last tour to Pakistan in 2005. It also covered the United Arab Emirates-hosted versions of the series in 2012 and 2015.
Some of the most renowned and influential figures in cricket are part of the TMS team going to Pakistan, including correspondent Jonathan Agnew, a former England fast bowler, legendary Pakistan fast bowler Waqar Younis, former England spinner Vic Marks, who also toured Pakistan with England in 1984, World Cup winner Alex Hartley, commentators Simon Mann, Aatif Nawaz, and Daniel Norcross, and scorer Andy Zaltzman.
Jonathan Agnew, a cricket correspondent for the BBC, stated, “I can’t wait to explore Pakistan once more for what will be my fourth journey here. It’s been seventeen long years since Test Match Special was last played here. We’re excited to broadcast all the drama and colour to our listeners at home, and I can’t wait to watch how England’s new aggressive style of Test cricket performs when pitted against Pakistan’s impressive bowling attack.
“TMS covering Pakistan against England series will raise the coverage of this historic series to a another level,” stated PCB Chief Executive Faisal Hasnain. Even today, when live cricket can be seen on smartphones, devoted cricket fans still choose to connect with TMS to not only watch matches but also to learn more about the game and its history.
