During a landing at the New Islamabad International Airport earlier this week, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) aircraft PK-246 from Saudi Arabia nearly avoided a severe accident.
The nose wheel tyre of PIA’s Boeing 777 with more than 200 passengers on board ruptured due to high-speed temperature during the time of landing, according to information.
Fortunately, the captain made a safe technical landing at the Islamabad airport, and no one was injured. The captain first noticed a problem with the nose wheel tyre while taking off from Saudi Arabia.
In this regard, a PIA spokeswoman apologised to the passengers for the delay and praised the captain for successfully landing on his belly.
According to the spokesman, PIA’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Arshad Malik, has created a high-level inquiry board to look into the event and has asked appropriate officials to take action against those guilty.
An ATR jet from Gwadar almost avoided tragedy earlier this month when its tyres exploded after landing at Jinnah International Airport Karachi.
The captain showed off his abilities by landing the plane on flat tyres. There were 60 passengers on board at the time of the event, and no one was injured.
