In June of this year, Meta released their latest Quest 3 AR headset, just a few days ahead of Apple Vision Pro, which was miles ahead.
Launched of the Vision Pro
The Facebook parent firm is now shifting gears to collaborate with LG on a premium mixed-reality headset.
The company’s collaboration with LG most likely began when Apple launched the Vision Pro. Even Samsung is said to have ditched its present prototype headgear in order to develop on something better.
Apple’s $3499 Vision Pro
According to industry rumours originating in Korean media, Meta intends to deploy this new high-end headset by 2025, with the goal of undercutting Apple’s $3499 Vision Pro price tag.
NH Investment & Securities has contributed to the debate of Apple Vision Pro competitors.
They’ve researched Samsung’s position and considered the possibility of Meta and LG releasing a high-end AR headset for around $2,000.
Samsung Electronics’ offering will most likely be positioned between Apple’s Vision Pro and Meta Quest.
The hardware is intended to be premium, similar to Apple’s, but at a lesser price to make it more accessible to the general population. It is possible that it will be reduced.
Meta Quest 4 Pro
This new Meta headset will apparently be called the Quest 4 Pro, and its full name may be the Quest 4 Pro.
However, before the Meta Quest 4 Pro is released in a few years, the social media behemoth is reportedly preparing to target the price-sensitive market with more affordable devices starting at $200 in 2024.
LG is involved in this initiative because it submitted a patent for a mixed-reality headset in 2019.
And has been working on research and development since then. However, it is unclear whether the patent is related to Meta’s future premium AR headset.
