The 15-inch Air is only 11.5mm thick and weighs 1.496kg. The new machine will be available in four colors: midnight, starlight, space gray, and silver.
The 15-inch MacBook Air, like the 13-inch model, is powered by an M2 chip with an 8-core CPU (4 performance and 4 efficient cores), a 10-core GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine.
The laptop comes standard with 8GB of unified memory but can be upgraded to 24GB. The M2 chip allows the 15-inch Air to run for up to 18 hours on a single charge.
If you’re looking for ambiguous comparisons, the new 15-inch MacBook Air is 12x faster than the ‘fastest Intel-based MacBook Air’ and twice as fast as the ‘best-selling 15-inch PC laptop with a Core i7 processor’.
The 15-inch Air features two USB-C Thunderbolt ports, a MagSafe charging port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The laptop has three microphones and six speakers.
The 15-inch Air is available now for $1,299 ($1,199 with eduction). Shipments will begin the following week. The new MacBook Air is the world’s best 15-inch laptop, with an expansive 15.3-inch Liquid Retina display, M2 performance, up to 18 hours of battery life, and a six-speaker sound system, all in a thin and light, fanless design.
