Another Indian military officer has been detained for releasing sensitive information to an unknown woman he met on a social media platform.
According to reports, Rajasthan Police’s crime division has begun a high-level investigation into the arrest of Indian Army commander Pradeep Kumar in Jodhpur.
The Rajasthan Police said in an official statement that they had received a complaint from the Indian Army alleging that Pradeep Kumar had revealed vital information to a suspected female spy of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
The Rajasthan Police nabbed Pradeep Kumar from his home in Jodhpur after receiving a complaint. Kumar’s home was also raided by the police, who took his cellphones, laptops, and official documents.
Pradeep Kumar revealed during the preliminary investigation that he met a woman named Chhadam on Facebook six months ago. The woman claimed to be from Gwalior and employed by a major firm in Bengaluru.
In exchange for vital documents about the Indian Army, the woman promised to marry Kumar. Pradeep was unable to refuse the offer since he had shared important papers with the woman via WhatsApp.
Last Monday, the crime section of the Delhi Police arrested an Indian Air Force (IAF) officer named Devendra Sharma after he transmitted critical information about the IAF’s radars to an accused female ISI spy.
Sharma had met a woman over Facebook a few months before. After a few weeks, the woman called Sharma and demanded that he reveal the knowledge concerning the IAF’s radars. Sharma retrieved the necessary data from the IAF’s systems and handed it over to the woman.
