The updated Echos may operate as wireless mesh nodes in addition to connecting to Eero routers by utilizing Eero’s TrueMesh technology (Eero Built-in). Even better, if you already have one or more fourth-generation Echo speakers in your house, you may already have the beginnings of a mesh network. Eero can update suitable older devices that are already out in the market because TrueMesh is a software-based breakthrough.
CEO and co-founder of Eero Nick Weaver told The Verge that older Echos will receive over-the-air updates “in the coming months.” Customers must, of course, already have an Eero mesh network or at least the router to use the service. However, purchasing one for as little as $75 shouldn’t strain your budget.

In 2019, Amazon acquired Eero, which continues to function independently. Up until this point, all it has done for the corporation has been to sell its goods. Having said that, Amazon has a stake in promoting Eero’s company and desires to have as many homes as possible with Echo speakers.
Both of those goals are served by turning Echo Dots into WiFi extenders: consumers who already own fourth-generation speakers may now choose an Eero router, while those who already have an Eero mesh network may choose an Echo rather than an Eero node due to the voice assistant capabilities. It benefits both Amazon and Eero, so everyone wins.
