The Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP) has requested that the Managing Director (MD) of the National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC) produce a fact-finding report on unlawful appointments, unjustifiable payments, and the issuance of phoney clearance certificates within seven days.
According to reports, in a letter to MD NTDC Lahore, AGP’s office of the Director General Audit (Power) has requested that the fact-finding report in relation to different charges against the previous MD NTDC Manzoor Ahmad be submitted within seven days.
Furthermore, it was stated that any delay in the submission of documents would not be accepted and reported to the AGP, and that any delaying tactics from the quarter involved will not be tolerated.
As the case is urgent, Deputy Director Aqsa Lodhi, Audit Power (Team Leader) of the AGP’s office of the Director General Audit (Power), has requested that the MD NTDC produce a fact-finding report on allegations against the former MD NTDC.
According to the AGP’s office of the Director General Audit (Power), the issues of complaints include the illegal appointment of the MD NTDC, the unjustified payment of retention money to Usman & Company of Rs27.953 million and a loss of Rs66.39 million, the issuing of a bogus clearance certificate by the General Manager (GM) Technical NTDC and ignoring the pending discrepancies in the HVDC (high-voltage direct current) transmission line project.
