Major General (Retd) Amir Azeem Bajwa, the chairman of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), stepped down on Wednesday after serving his full term.
Amir Azeem Bajwa has stepped down after serving his four-year term, according to confirmed sources at PTA.
The PTA chairman reportedly told the appropriate parties that he would be resigning from his position.
He also expressed his gratitude to the authority’s officers for their cooperation over the years.
As you may remember, Major General (Retd) Amir Azeem Bajwa began serving in January 2019. On January 2, 2023, his four-year term as chairman came to an end.
The chairman of the cabinet division had verbally requested that he stay on until January 21, 2023, but he refused.
The process for choosing the next head has already been started by the cabinet division.
The cabinet division has also posted a job advertisement for the hiring of the next chairman.
The advertisement states that the maximum age for individuals who are interested is 57 years old.
The federal government had decided against extending Major General (Retd) Amir Azeem Bajwa’s term as PTA chairman.
The tenure was to be extended by 4 years, according to a summary from the cabinet division.
