Sahib e Asra, a Pakistani sprinter, has expressed her gratitude to the media and her supporters for advocating on her behalf to avoid having to pay taxes on a gift of spikes.
The 26-year-old sprinter told the media that the taxes on the imported spikes had been settled and that she has received the shoes. She admitted that she had been given spikes despite the previous hefty charge.
The player was asked for tax
After receiving a substantial gift of imported spikes earlier this week, Sahib e Asra found herself in an unanticipated tax predicament. After her old spikes wore out, the athlete reportedly spent Rs. 55,000 on a new set to help get back into training shape. Asra was shocked when the courier business requested her to pay the Rs. 68,000 in import taxes mandated by the government.
Asra competed for Pakistan in the 13th South Asian Games in 2019, where she won a bronze medal in the 400-meter dash and silver and bronze medals in the 100- and 4-hundred-meter events.. It’s worth noting that Sahib e Asra also won two gold medals at the 34th National Games.
