The Galaxy Ring 2 is officially coming, Samsung has confirmed it, but Pakistani buyers hoping to get one soon will need to be patient. Reports from South Korea say a 2026 release is now off the table, with early 2027 being the most likely window. Meanwhile, rival Oura has already launched its Ring 5 and Apple is reportedly building its own smart ring. So should you buy the current Galaxy Ring now, or wait? Here is everything you need to know.

Samsung Officially Confirms Galaxy Ring 2 Is in Development

Samsung confirmed that the Galaxy Ring 2 is in development through the voice of Dr. Hon Pak, the company’s head of the Digital Health team. “We are working on the next generation. I can tell you that,” said Dr. Hon Pak, Samsung’s Senior Vice President and Head of the Digital Health Team, speaking to Forbes.

He strongly hinted at upcoming iPhone pairing support, while confirming that the next Galaxy Ring will have longer battery life and upgraded health tracking. This is important for Pakistani iPhone users who currently cannot use a Galaxy Ring at all, as the Samsung Galaxy Ring requires an Android smartphone, and a Samsung Galaxy phone is needed specifically for full feature access including AI-powered health analysis.

Why the Galaxy Ring 2 Launch Is Sliding to 2027

According to a new report, it is “virtually impossible” for Samsung to release a Galaxy Ring sequel this year, with “Galaxy Ring 2” instead likely to launch in early 2027. If accurate, we would be looking at a three-year gap from the launch of the original Samsung Galaxy Ring in 2024 to its successor.

Multiple factors contribute: underwhelming sales of the original Galaxy Ring, an ongoing patent dispute with Oura at the ITC, and Samsung’s decision to prioritize other product launches. Samsung did not mention a release timeline officially, so on that front we will have to stick with the rumored early 2027 window for now.

What Upgrades to Expect from Galaxy Ring 2

Samsung is not planning a complete reinvention. The focus is on fixing real problems users reported with the first ring.

  • Longer battery life: Battery life would go up from the existing 7 days to around 9-10 days.
  • Thinner and lighter design: Reports point to a thinner and lighter design, made possible by a revised internal layout.
  • Better health sensors: Sources say Samsung is working on better skin temperature readings, more accurate sleep analysis, and stronger cardiovascular insights.
  • iPhone support: The device may feature potential iOS compatibility beyond current Android-only support.
  • No blood glucose yet: Samsung reportedly wanted to add non-invasive blood glucose monitoring to the ring, but the plan has reportedly been put on hold.

In terms of what the Galaxy Ring 2 will offer, Samsung is looking into improving the sensors and battery life. However, we perhaps should not expect anything too dramatic in terms of hardware. “If you look at the comparison of other rings, regardless of the competitor, the sensors are not that different right now,” said Pak. “It’s really about what services you create on the top layer. It’s really the software differentiation that you see.”

The Smart Ring Market Is Getting Very Crowded

Samsung is taking its time while rivals push ahead fast. Oura officially launched its Ring 5 on May 28, 2026, claiming the title of the world’s smallest smart ring, while Samsung has yet to announce a follow-up to its Galaxy Ring nearly two years after its debut.

The Ring 5 is 40% smaller than its predecessor and comes with more accurate sensing and enhanced battery life. Oura Ring 5 introduces blood pressure trend monitoring and nighttime breathing analysis, features Samsung’s current ring lacks.

The market itself is growing fast. The global smart ring market was valued at $416.9 million in 2025 and is projected to reach $3.77 billion by 2034. A leaker also reported that Apple is actively building a smart ring, an “iRing” aimed squarely at the Oura Ring 5 and the Samsung Galaxy Ring. If Apple enters this space, the competition will get even tougher for Samsung.

Galaxy Ring 1 Price in Pakistan Right Now

If you are in Pakistan and thinking about jumping in today, the current Galaxy Ring is available but you will pay a premium over its international price. Samsung Galaxy Ring prices in Pakistan start from Rs 72,540 and go up to Rs 89,280, though some online stores list it even higher. At least one online retailer in Pakistan has the Samsung Galaxy Ring listed at PKR 100,899.

That is a big jump from the device’s original US launch price. The Galaxy Ring launched in 2024 for $399. At current exchange rates that would be roughly Rs 111,000, but grey market and import costs vary widely. One big advantage that Pakistani buyers get is that the no-subscription model remains Samsung’s biggest competitive edge. While Oura charges $5.99 per month for full functionality, the Galaxy Ring includes everything for its $399 purchase price. For Pakistani users, avoiding a monthly USD subscription is a real saving over time.

Should You Buy Now or Wait for Galaxy Ring 2?

This is the real question for Pakistani buyers. Here is a simple breakdown:

  • Buy the Galaxy Ring 1 now if: You want health tracking without a monthly subscription, you use a Samsung Android phone, and you do not want to wait until at least early 2027.
  • Wait for Galaxy Ring 2 if: You have an iPhone, since iPhone support is expected in the next model. Or if battery life and sensor accuracy are important to you, since those will clearly improve.
  • Consider Oura Ring 5 if: You want the most advanced smart ring available right now, but be aware it needs a monthly subscription fee paid in USD, which adds up for Pakistani users.

Reports suggest the Galaxy Ring 2 will arrive alongside the Galaxy S27 flagship series. The extended development window is allegedly being used to address key user feedback from the first generation. If that holds, the wait may well be worth it.
