AMD’s new RX 7700 XT and 7800 XT GPUs have arrived, bringing us a lot closer to next-gen 2K gaming at under $400. These start at $459 and will compete with Nvidia’s RTX 4060 Ti and RTX 4070.
AMD’s new RX 7700 XT
According to AMD, both graphics cards can sustain an average frame rate of more than 60fps in the current games, even at 1440p resolution, while using maximum settings and without resorting to any sophisticated upscaling techniques.
This performance rating applies to even the most difficult PC versions, such as The Last of Us Part I and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, which is outstanding.
Furthermore, the business claims that both GPUs achieve an average of more than 100fps in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II.
It’s worth noting that these graphics cards are still quite large; AMD’s reference design for the Radeon RX 7800 XT takes up the equivalent of 2.5 expansion slots in a desktop system.
In contrast, Nvidia’s RTX 4070 Founders Edition and lesser variants have a two-slot design.
Furthermore, these GPUs require a greater power allocation, reaching up to 265W in comparison to the GeForce series’ 200W consumption.
It’s worth noting that the use of a pair of eight-pin PCI-E power connectors has been kept, which may be appreciated by some users.
The detailed specifications are as follows:
Memory is an area where certain Nvidia GPUs have been subjected to unjustified limits, but AMD may have the upper hand this time.
The RX 7700 XT, for example, has 12 GB of GDDR6 memory and a 192-bit interface, resulting in a total bandwidth of 432 GB per second.
The RX 7800 XT, on the other hand, has 16 GB of RAM, a 256-bit interface, and an amazing overall bandwidth of 624 GB per second.
Along with the graphics cards, AMD will release FSR 3 on September 6th.
This most recent version of their upscaling technology includes improved frame generating capabilities. It will also make Native Anti-Aliasing possible.
FSR3 is expected to support a wide range of graphics cards, including the Radeon 5000, 6000, and 7000 series.
However, AMD recommends using the technology on 6000 and 7000 series cards for the best results.
Notably, FSR3 will also support Nvidia cards, with AMD claiming compatibility for the 20-series, 30-series, and 40-series cards.
Keep in mind, though, that FSR 3 will only work if developers include it in their games. So far, Cyberpunk 2077,
Forspoken, Immortals of Aveum, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, Frostpunk 2, Squad, Starship Troopers: Extermination, Black Myth: Wukong, Crimson Desert, and Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth are among the games that will feature the technology.
