Finli has an app for you if your service-based business is still accepting paper checks and only knows your customers by their first names.
Lori Shao, CEO of Finli, founded the mobile-first payment management company nearly three years ago after 20 years of building mobile technology for fintechs and payment companies.
She noticed that she was surrounded by technology all day but still used a chequebook to manage household services such as landscaping and after-school programmes.
The San Marino, California-based company focuses on microbusinesses, which account for 9.9 percent of all U.S. businesses, according to the Small Business Administration Office of Advocacy.
These are companies that frequently use five or more services, such as QuickBooks, to manage client billing and payments.
Shao believes that many business owners abandon those services because they are complicated, expensive, and rely heavily on owners knowing a lot more about their clients than a first name and mobile phone number.
“You don’t have to fit yourself into a QuickBooks box or a Square box; you can continue to operate your own way, on your own terms and we meet you where you are,” Shao told. “Because Finli stands for ‘financial lift,’ it is in our DNA to financially lift communities, and we can do so one small, microbusiness at a time.”
Between gigs, Finli’s platform allows owners to send invoices, look up customer information, and check on payment status. Within minutes, users can create an account and send their first receipt via email, SMS text, or another messaging app. Also, there is a customer relation manager feature, which allows them to digitize their client base if desired.
