1,200 teachers in Karachi who had been waiting years for promotions received them thanks to the Sindh government.
Farnaz Riaz, the director of secondary education, revealed the choice in a notification on Friday.
According to the notification, all Karachi school teachers have been upgraded to BPS-16, while Primary School Teachers have been promoted to Junior School Teachers (JSTs) and JSTs have been promoted to Higher Secondary School Teachers.
The Departmental Promotion Committee’s suggestion and the authorization of the appropriate authorities were both obtained in making the decision.
Additionally, it has come to light that some teachers are putting pressure on administrators to station them in their hometowns even though the policy states that only female teachers will do so.
In related news, the Sindh Education Department has decided to take action against ghost staff members and immediately suspend them from their positions. They explained that this would apply to all employees from different schools in Karachi who have been absent from work for the past eight months but have continued to receive pay.
79 employees on the department’s list of ghost employees will have their employment terminated.
Along with the non-teaching employees, those who will lose their jobs include eight high school instructors, eight junior school teachers, ten elementary school teachers, four Sindhi language teachers, and two headmasters.
