The Punjab government has launched a special initiative to help women get driving licenses from the comfort of their homes. This new service aims to save women the trouble of visiting traffic offices. A Pink Mobile Police Station and Licensing Unit has been introduced to provide these services directly at their doorsteps, ensuring safety, convenience, and empowerment for women across Punjab.
Inauguration of the Mobile Service in Rawalpindi
City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Hamdani inaugurated the mobile licensing service at Rawalpindi Medical University. The event marked a major step toward women’s mobility and independence. Female students and university staff were able to receive learner permits and registration services right on-site during the launch. The initiative drew positive responses from women eager to gain more independence.
Focus on Women’s Empowerment Under Maryam Nawaz’s Vision
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Farhan Aslam explained that while the government had earlier launched two mobile units for the general public, this new project is dedicated to women. It falls under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s women empowerment initiative. The goal is to make driving licenses more accessible, allowing women to travel safely, seek jobs, and participate more freely in everyday life.
Equipped Vans Offering On-the-Spot Services
Each mobile van is fitted with four counters designed to handle the full licensing process. The facilities include biometric verification, fingerprint scanning, and on-the-spot license printing. Four trained female officers have been appointed to run each van, ensuring a comfortable and respectful environment. The setup allows women to complete all steps of licensing without any discomfort or long waiting lines.
Expansion of the Initiative Across Punjab
CPO Hamdani shared that 33 mobile units are currently operating across Punjab. These vans help women apply for learner’s, permanent, and even international driving licenses. The service removes the need for long trips to traffic offices, saving both time and effort. By making the process easier, the government hopes to encourage more women to drive and enjoy their independence safely and confidently.
Empowering Women Through Mobility
This initiative represents more than just a service it symbolizes empowerment. By giving women the freedom to drive, the Punjab government is helping them become more active in society. The program supports education, employment, and personal growth, especially for women who depend on others for transportation. With doorstep licensing now available, Punjab is taking a proud step toward greater equality and progress.
