WhatsApp has been discovered to make it easier for businesses to create new orders for customers who are already on the platform.
In the new experience, business users would be able to add items that they are selling to a customer to the chat screen.
WhatsApp is said to be testing the feature internally at the moment, though some references to it were found in a recent beta release for Android users. For quite some time, the instant messaging app has been actively working to improve its shopping experience.
According to WhatsApp features tracker WABetaInfo, WhatsApp for Android beta version 2.22.9.12 contained references to a new business-focused update that would be accessible via the ‘Order’ shortcut, which appeared in a previous beta release.
When a business user taps the shortcut, they will be given the option to add items they are about to sell to customers they are chatting with, as shown in a screenshot shared by WABetaInfo.
WhatsApp’s ‘Catalogue’ feature, which was introduced in 2019, will allow businesses to add items/products from their catalog.
Business users can specify the number of items they want to include in their order, and the app will calculate the subtotal and the total number of items added automatically.
According to the beta tracking website, once the order is created, it will be automatically sent to the chat.
The precise date and time when the ‘Order’ shortcut will be available to users have yet to be announced. However, given WhatsApp’s track record, even reaching beta testers would take some time.
