According to a Denver Business Journal article, Twitter is being evicted from its premises in Boulder, Colorado because it hasn’t paid the rent for several months.
According to TechCrunch, the business moved into the office in February 2020 and used a letter of credit for around $1 million to pay the rent up to March.
According to TechCrunch, the judge ordered the sheriff to assist in evicting Elon Musk’s company within 49 days on May 31 after the landlord sued Twitter in court last month.
According to the site, Twitter’s Boulder branch once employed up to 300 people. The Denver Post reports that 87 employees were let go last year, followed by 38 resignations.
Other Offices of Twitter and Their Rent Issues
Several other landlords have previously filed lawsuits against the corporation, alleging non-payment of rent for both its San Francisco headquarters and its London branch, which is owned by King Charles.
The firm would only pay office rent “over his dead body,” Musk allegedly declared in a 4 a.m. chat, according to a complaint brought up by former Twitter employees last month.
According to the lawsuit, Alex Spiro, Musk’s attorney, “loudly opined” that corporation’s landlords shouldn’t have expected it to pay rent because San Francisco was a “shithole.”
It looks to be a strategy to help corporation save costs after Insider earlier revealed that Musk had cut the company’s headcount by roughly 90%.
The business declined Insider’s request for a response because it no longer replies to media inquiries.
