The Pakistan Meteorological Department predicted that tropical cyclone Biparjoy will bring rain, thunder, and a violent dust-storm to Karachi this afternoon or evening.
The latest forecast calls for partly overcast skies, high temperatures, and high humidity. The winds in the port city are currently 25 miles per hour and might reach 40 kilometres per hour.
Temperatures in Karachi are predicted to reach 36–38 degrees Celsius, with humidity levels of 69%.
According to the most recent predictions, the cyclone in the Arabian Sea, dubbed Biparjoy (which means “disaster” in Bengali), is a very severe cyclonic storm (VSCS).
Near latitude 21.9°N and longitude 66.3°E, or roughly 340 km south-southwest of Karachi, 355 km south-southwest of Thatta, and 275 km south-southwest of Keti Bandar, it has travelled nearly northwards during the last six hours.
Biparjoy will reach Karachi tomorrow
Known as VSCS, the storm is forecast to reach landfall between Mandvi in Gujarat and Karachi on Thursday evening.
Thatta, Sujawal, Badin, Tharparker, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, and Karachi may have significant precipitation from the Biparjoy between June 14 and 17, according to the Met Office.
There is a possibility of precipitation along the coast of Sindh. “The cyclone will make landfall on June 15 and its effects will last until June 17,” Sardar Sarfaraz, chief meteorologist for Sindh, told a local news channel.
The chief meteorologist has predicted that once the storm has passed, the weather in the city will revert to “normal,” with sea breeze blowing through the city.
