The Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) has invited proposals from international and local cloud service providers to offer all variants of cloud computing services in Pakistan at a subsidized tariff via the PSEB Cloud Platform.
The Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) has issued Terms of Reference (ToR) to offer cloud services under a framework agreement.
According to the PSEB, there is a need to encourage investment in the establishment of high-tech, resilient, and at-scale data centers in the country to offer all variants of cloud computing services (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, XaaS).
These cloud computing services will aid in improving IT flexibility and responsiveness, as well as lowering operating costs and risk. It will also address issues of governance and compliance.
PSEB believes that cloud computing is the best option for meeting the infrastructure needs of the IT industry while minimizing capital and operational costs.
It enables network access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources that is ubiquitous, convenient, and on-demand (networks, servers, storage, applications, services, etc.).
These cloud computing services can be rapidly provisioned and released with little management effort or interaction from service providers.
The TORs state that the company providing cloud services must be registered in Pakistan. A foreign company should form a joint venture with a local company that has a valid NTN and GST.
Such local partners will be able to provide PSEB member companies with significantly reduced rates.
The data center should be tier-III or tier-IV compliant or certified, and the company should have an annual turnover of 50 million rupees. The deadline for submitting proposals is May 24.
