TikTok has refuted allegations that hackers took source code and user information after accessing its computers.
According to the corporation, the information shared on the hacking forum was “totally unrelated” to the business.
By posting a topic on the hacking forum, the hacker group ‘AgainstTheWest’ claimed to have broken into WeChat and TikTok.
The article included screenshots of what appeared to be a company database that was accessible via an Alibaba cloud and featured information on both WeChat and TikTok users.
The server allegedly has 2.05 billion records in a huge 790GB database of user information, platform statistics, software code, cookies, authentication tokens, server information, etc., according to the hackers.
Despite its moniker, the hacking group claims it solely targets businesses and nations that oppose western interests.
However, TikTok denied being hacked, claiming the source code supplied was not a component of its platform.
The business added that its sufficient security measures will stop automated scripts from gathering user data.
The founder of the HaveIBeenPwned data breach notification service, Tory Hunt, verified in a thread on Twitter that TikTok had been compromised and that some of the data were accurate.
Bob Diachenko, a database hunter, confirmed the user data breach as well, but he was unable to provide reliable information on how it occurred.
