Three New EVs Are Hitting Pakistani Showrooms This August

August 2026 is shaping up as the single busiest month for EV launches in Pakistan, with three very different Chinese electric vehicles arriving in showrooms at the same time. The ORA 03 hatchback, the Deepal Hunter K50 REEV pickup, and the Avatr 11 luxury SUV each target a completely different type of buyer. Here is a clear, side-by-side look at all three so you can decide which one, if any, fits your life.

    • Is the ORA 03 locally assembled in Pakistan?

ORA 03: The Everyday EV Under Rs 9 Million

The ORA 03 is the most accessible of the three. Sazgar Engineering brought this Great Wall Motor (GWM) hatchback to Pakistan, and it carries an ex-factory price of Rs 8,999,000 for its 400-Pro variant. That makes it one of the more affordable EVs on the market right now.

Under the skin sits a 47.78 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery paired with a front-wheel-drive permanent magnet synchronous motor producing 105 kW and 219 Nm of torque. On a full charge it covers up to 310 km, and a full AC charge takes about eight hours. Top speed is 160 km/h, which is more than enough for city and highway use.

The car is known globally as the Good Cat and has a retro-futuristic look, a classic rounded front with a cleaner, modern rear. Inside, it supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the driver gets lane-keeping assistance and automatic emergency braking. For a Pakistani family wanting a second car that cuts fuel bills, this is the entry point.

One gap that most coverage misses: the ORA 03 is initially sold as a completely built import, so local assembly, which would reduce costs further, depends on how well the model sells in the coming months.

Deepal Hunter K50: The World’s First REEV Pickup

The Deepal Hunter K50 is the most technically unusual vehicle of the three. It is the world’s first mass-produced Range-Extended Electric Vehicle (REEV) pickup truck, and it is arriving in Pakistan through Master Changan Motors.

A REEV is different from a regular hybrid. In a normal hybrid, both the engine and the electric motor can turn the wheels. In the Hunter K50, the electric motors alone drive the wheels at all times. The 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine never touches the wheels, it only acts as a generator to top up the 31.18 kWh battery when it gets low. This means you always get the smooth, quiet pull of an electric vehicle, even on long trips.

The numbers are strong: 268 horsepower, 470 Nm of torque, and a 0, 100 km/h sprint in 7.9 seconds from a dual-motor AWD setup. Pure electric range sits at around 111 km WLTP, and with a full petrol tank backing the generator, range anxiety is essentially removed. Payload capacity is 750 kg, making it a practical working vehicle and not just a lifestyle truck.

The Hunter K50 was spotted testing on Karachi and Lahore roads throughout early 2026. Pricing currently sits around Rs 9.8 million, positioning it against the Toyota Hilux Revo and Isuzu D-Max. For businesses running fleets, where fuel costs per kilometre matter, the REEV system could pay for itself faster than buyers expect.

What most coverage misses here is the fleet angle. If a business runs 10 pickups doing city deliveries within 100 km a day, switching to the Hunter K50 means those vehicles could run almost entirely on cheap electricity, with the petrol engine only kicking in as a backup generator. That is a meaningful saving in a country where diesel prices keep rising.

Avatr 11: The Premium SUV Backed by Huawei and CATL

The Avatr 11 is in a different league entirely. This mid-size luxury electric crossover SUV is a product of a joint venture between Changan, CATL, the world’s largest battery maker, and Huawei, whose intelligent vehicle technology is baked into the car’s core systems. Changan unveiled it in Pakistan in December 2025, with showroom availability now expected in August 2026.

The headline spec is a 116.79 kWh battery delivering a WLTP range of around 578 km, or up to 680 km under NEDC testing. Huawei’s 800V fast-charging system can add roughly 200 km of range in just 10 minutes, among the fastest charging speeds of any EV available in Pakistan. A Lahore-to-Islamabad run is fully within range without stopping to charge.

Inside, buyers get Nappa leather seats, a 25-speaker Meridian sound system, and three screens: a 10.25-inch driver display, a massive 15.6-inch centre touchscreen, and a dedicated 10.25-inch passenger screen. Safety tech includes LiDAR sensors, adaptive cruise control, lane assistance, and collision warnings. Expected price is in the region of Rs 25 million, making it a direct competitor to German luxury EVs imported into Pakistan.

The Avatr 11 also comes with advanced driver-assistance features that improve safety on both city roads and motorways, useful in Pakistan where long motorway drives between major cities are common.

Pakistan’s EV sector is clearly growing fast. The shift from cautious experimentation to full-segment coverage, hatchback, pickup, and luxury SUV, in a single month tells the real story. You can also read about the grid and battery challenges Punjab’s electric buses are already facing, which will matter for EV owners across all segments as charging demand grows.

Quick Comparison: Which One Is for You?

  • ORA 03, Best for city commuters wanting an affordable, clean daily driver under Rs 9 million.
  • Deepal Hunter K50, Best for business owners and off-road users who want pickup power with near-zero fuel bills on daily routes.
  • Avatr 11, Best for premium buyers who want German-luxury comfort with Chinese-tech range and fast charging.

All three are built in China and benefit from strong supply chains, though Pakistan’s broader push to deepen its economic ties with China means spare parts pipelines and after-sales networks for these brands should become more reliable over time.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes August 2026 special for EV launches in Pakistan?

Three Chinese electric vehicles, the ORA 03, the Deepal Hunter K50, and the Avatr 11, are all arriving in Pakistani showrooms in August 2026, making it the busiest single month for EV launches the country has seen according to industry data from Arif Habib Limited.

What is a REEV and how is the Deepal Hunter K50 different from a hybrid?

In a Range-Extended Electric Vehicle (REEV), the electric motor always drives the wheels. The petrol engine never connects to the wheels; it only runs as a generator to recharge the battery. This gives you the smooth power delivery of a pure EV with the long range of a petrol car, unlike a standard hybrid where both the engine and motor can power the wheels directly.

Is the ORA 03 locally assembled in Pakistan?

Not yet. The ORA 03 is currently sold as a completely built import. Local assembly by Sazgar Engineering is possible in the future, depending on sales demand, which could bring the price down.

How fast does the Avatr 11 charge?

The Avatr 11 uses Huawei’s 800V fast-charging technology, which can add around 200 km of range in approximately 10 minutes. Its 116.79 kWh battery gives a WLTP range of about 578 km on a full charge.
