Pakistan Super League (PSL 7) began without the pomp and circumstance of an official opening ceremony for the first time in its history. Nonetheless, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made plans to entertain the fans at National Stadium Karachi ahead of the commencement of the PSL 7’s first match.
The curtain raiser began with the national anthem of Pakistan, followed by a movie commemorating Pakistan cricket’s history on the big screen for the supporters. Three Austrian skydivers plunged from 5,000 feet outside the National Stadium Karachi after the moving homage to Pakistan cricket. The skydivers brought in the official ball for the PSL 7’s first match to kick off the festivities and gave it to the umpires.
Superstars Atif Aslam and Aima Baig added to the fans’ excitement by performing the PSL 7 anthem, ‘Agay Dekh,’ before PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja and Prime Minister Imran Khan officially launched the PSL 7 via a video package.
A firework show concluded the curtain-raiser as the captains stepped out on the field to toss the first match of PSL 7.
