Honda Atlas has begun teasing the arrival of the new HR-V on its social media accounts. The vehicle has been tested on local roads for some time, and its unmasked examples were recently seen taking part in the filming of its TV commercial.
The third-generation Honda HR-V (known as Vezel in the Japanese domestic market) has already been introduced in Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Malaysia.
It is available with naturally aspirated and turbocharged engines, as well as hybrid (e: HEV) powertrains. However, the exact specifications for our market’s offerings are still unknown.
Furthermore, based on the teaser image, which shows a horizontally slatted grille, we can assume that the flagship RS variant will not be available (at least for the time being) because it will have a mesh grille.
There is no official word on pricing, but according to sources, the new Honda HR-V will be priced between PKR 6.0 and 7.0 million in Pakistan.
The panoramic roof, floating touchscreen system, up to 6 airbags, automatic dual-zone climate control, auto headlamps, hill-start & descent control, power tailgate, rain sensing wipers, and other features stand out.
The Honda Sensing suite, which includes adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane keep assist, autonomous braking, and 360-degree camera support, is also standard on the HR-V. The Honda HR-V will be making its second appearance in our market.
The HR-V was first introduced in January 2016 at a price of PKR 36.19 lac, but it failed miserably due to a high price tag and a lack of available features, especially given that the better-equipped JDM Vezel was available at a lower price.
Furthermore, while the JDM Vezel used a fuel-efficient hybrid powertrain, the HR-V by Honda Atlas used a naturally aspirated 1.5L iVTEC engine.
By 2018, its price had already surpassed PKR 42.44 lac, with virtually no one interested in purchasing the crossover. Due to a lack of market response, the company was forced to discontinue it.
