Xbox Series X|S customers will no longer have to listen to their buddies chewing on their mics, according to a new update from Microsoft that mutes ambient noises in voice conversations.
For the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, Xbox Insiders in the Alpha Skip Ahead ring may now use a new party chat noise reduction option. It’s included in the newest Xbox Update Preview and should eliminate distracting background noises while online talking.
Microsoft describes the new feature as “we’ve activated a new feature that will run your microphone input through a noise suppression step to assist provide better audio in your Party Chat session.”
“The option is toggled from the dropdown options menu and is enabled by default.”
If Microsoft has appropriately set the noise reduction, it should result in a significant improvement.
When you join a party chat, you won’t have to listen to your friends’ heavy breathing or unpleasant chewing, and distracting background noises like neighboring dog barking or loud bangs should be segregated to make the audio as clear as possible.
