The federal government has announced a price decrease for light diesel oil (LDO) and kerosene for the next two weeks.
Finance Minister Ishaq Dar made the announcement during a press conference on Wednesday. However, the government has decided to keep petrol and diesel prices unchanged for the next two weeks, until December 15.
Light diesel oil (LDO) will now cost Rs. 179 per liter, while kerosene will cost Rs. 181.83 per liter, a reduction of Rs. 7.50 and Rs. 10 per liter, respectively.
The decision means that petrol will continue to cost Rs. 224.80 per liter and high-speed diesel (HSD) will cost Rs. 235.30.
The government last announced a price change on October 1, when it reduced the price of both gasoline and diesel by Rs. 12 per litre. At the last three fortnightly reviews, the prices of all petroleum products remained unchanged.
The finance minister revealed that the decision was made with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s approval in order to provide maximum relief to Pakistan’s low-income population.
The new prices for the next two weeks will take effect on December 1.
