According to source, European Union (EU) members have extended Pakistan’s GSP Plus status for another four years.

According to interim Trade and Commerce Minister Gohar Ejaz, the European Council is expected to give final approval for the extension of the current Scheme soon.

Current GSP plus Status
It is worth noting that the current GSP plus status is set to expire in December 2023.
Earlier, Caretaker Prime Minister (PM) Anwaarul Haq Kakar emphasized the importance of maintaining the GSP Plus scheme, which benefited both Pakistan and the European Union (EU).
The prime minister emphasized the importance of the GSP Plus scheme in increasing Pakistan’s exports to European markets during a meeting with EU Ambassador to Pakistan Riina Kionka, who called on him.
He was pleased with the positive trajectory of Pakistan-EU relations and praised recent progress in this area.
PM Kakar stated that his government is dedicated to protecting and upholding the rights of all citizens.
The caretaker PM stated that the government would ensure constitutional continuity until the country’s next general elections.
The EU ambassador stated that the EU would continue to support the Pakistani government and work to improve cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
