Travelers to hill stations like Murree will be pleased to hear that the long-awaited Bhara Kahu bypass is now open. The route was officially opened Monday by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and it would help reduce congestion on roads leading to Murree, Galyat, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The route starts at Murree route in Malpur and finishes back at Murree Road by the Jugi bus stop, for a total length of 5.6 kilometers (including a one-kilometer flyover). The 1,350-meter-long overhead bridge took nine months to build and about Rs. 6 billion to fund.
To improve the environment and make the Bhara Kahu bypass more aesthetically pleasing, the local government has plans to plant 50,000 trees. Next year, we’ll continue this tree-planting effort by planting another 25,000 trees in the spring.
CDA achievers bypass completion
Capital Development Authority (CDA) chairman Noor-ul-Amin Mengal recently tweeted his appreciation for the department’s work in guaranteeing the project’s timely completion. What he said was:
There was a lot of traffic to deal with in Kashmir and the surrounding area, and the project itself was extremely challenging. The CDA and NLC deserve praise for their hard work.
