As part of the government’s tax reform initiatives, caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar ul Haq Kakar said that Pakistan’s tax system is undergoing a digital transition.

Prime Minister Kakar stressed the necessity of improving tax collection at a meeting with a delegation from the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI).

Prime Minister Kakar told the delegation that addressing the problems and challenges raised by the business community is one of the government’s top objectives.
He also requested that a report on the growth of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) point of sale (PoS) be submitted as soon as possible.
Despite the country’s current economic woes, Prime Minister Kakar recognised the importance of the business community in promoting economic growth and creating job opportunities.
He emphasised that a comprehensive campaign, particularly in border areas, has been launched to combat smuggling, with significant results.

Prime Minister Kakar stated that continuing negotiations with neighbouring nations are aimed at strengthening trade connections.
Prime Minister Kakar emphasised the significance of further stabilising the country’s economy in order to restore confidence among traders, manufacturers, and investors.
He emphasised the importance of quick reforms in the electrical sector as well as action against electricity theft.
Ministry of Commerce
In order to improve the business environment, the Prime Minister asked the Ministry of Commerce to keep in touch with chambers of commerce across the country on a regular basis.
He also urged commercial attachés in Pakistani embassies to improve their performance.
During the discussion, people of the business community expressed their concerns and suggested solutions to their problems.
Prime Minister Kakar acknowledged their contributions and assured them that their concerns will be handled.
Prime Minister Kakar also advocated for the enhancement of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) system.
As well as the digitization of citizen services and land records, with a focus on integrating the business sector in the consultation process.
