According to sources, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and former PCB chairman Khalid Mehmood met on Sunday to discuss the selection of a new chairman of the sports regulating board.
According to reports, the meeting discussed a wide range of administrative and cricket issues, including a new PCB chairman appointment.
The prime, on the other hand, gave no hint that the board will be changed immediately.
According to insiders, the prime minister and Mahmood discussed a number of candidates for the position of next chairman of the national cricket regulatory body, including Najam Sethi, Zaka Ashraf, and Mehmood himself.
Shehbaz, on the other hand, suggested that there are far more pressing concerns at hand, and that now is not the time to replace the PCB.
Following Imran Khan’s resignation from power, there were reports that Ramiz Raja, the head of the Pakistan Cricket Board, would be fired due to the change of administration.
The frontrunner for the role is Najam Sethi, who has served as PCB Chairman three times; however, it remains to be seen whether Ramiz Raja is expelled by the present administration or present his resignation himself.
In either event, PM Shehbaz Sharif will name a candidate for the position, and Najam Sethi is a strong contender.
