Multan police have announced that all school and college students riding motorcycles must obtain proper licenses and helmets within one week. This move comes after the Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz introduced a policy that stops arrests of minors for traffic violations. The policy aims to make roads safer while avoiding harsh penalties for young riders. Students are encouraged to act promptly.
Awareness Campaign Launched by Police
Chief Police Officer Sadiq Dogar confirmed that an awareness campaign has started to help students follow the new traffic rules. Licensing centers will now stay open longer, allowing students to get their documents without any difficulty. The initiative focuses on guiding young riders toward responsible driving habits. Police emphasize that education and awareness are more important than punishment for underage riders.
Extended Licensing Hours for Convenience
CTO Kashif Aslam explained that licensing offices in Multan will now operate late into the evening. This decision is part of efforts to ensure that students can apply for motorcycle licenses without facing time-related problems. The government wants students to comply quickly and safely. Parents are also encouraged to assist their children in completing the process on time and ensure proper use of helmets.

Updated Traffic Laws and Penalties
The Punjab government has recently revised traffic laws to include stricter fines and increased penalties. CTO Aslam urged young riders and all citizens to follow the rules carefully to avoid legal issues. By enforcing these laws and combining them with awareness campaigns, authorities hope to create a safer environment on the roads and reduce accidents involving minors and inexperienced riders.
Education Over Enforcement Emphasized
CM Maryam Nawaz expressed strong concern over minors being handcuffed for traffic violations. She instructed police to stop arrests and focus on educating students. Parents are asked to promote traffic discipline at home. The police’s awareness initiative encourages safe riding practices, emphasizing responsible behavior over punishment. This approach aims to develop lifelong habits of road safety among young riders.
