Over 1.1 million social media accounts have been suspended by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) for allegedly posting unlawful information and waging a hate campaign against government institutions.
Around 10,500 of the 1.2 million social media IDs that were the subject of complaints were found to be innocent, and action is being taken against the other 1.1 million.
In response to public concerns about illegal information on social media, the regulator reportedly took action.
