The Skoda Enyaq EV range has been well received by EV buyers worldwide, and the Czech brand is now expanding its EV portfolio with the new Vision concept.
The new Skoda Vision 7S concept, which previews the company’s future EV strategy, was revealed today.
The Skoda Vision 7S concept is a zero-emission seven-seater electric vehicle that is part of Skoda’s plan to introduce three EVs by 2026.
It is larger than the Enyaq in terms of dimensions, and it is displayed in a ‘6+1 seating layout, with three rows and a baby seat mounted on top of a central rack that can be adjusted between the last two rows.’
The Skoda Vision 7S also marks the debut of Skoda’s new design philosophy, with the design team led by Oliver Stefani introducing a solid piano black plastic that replaces the traditional grill.
Skoda refers to it as the “Tech Deck” because it houses and conceals the numerous sensors required for driving assist systems.
The black element is surrounded by a further strip that houses the Vision 7S’s main headlight units and flanked by slim LED running lights.
The hood has an inverted power dome, which is a design change because there is no engine under the hood, and it also features Skoda’s new Logo, which is spelled out in lettering.
Skoda, for example, places the name of its vehicles at the back. Skoda’s design team is also attempting to incorporate housing plug sockets in the pillars to power external devices.
Interior
A massive 14.6-inch touchscreen takes center stage on the inside. The front-row seats can rotate slightly inboard, making it easier for passengers to watch content.
The steering wheel has a new two-spoke design that appears to be in production, and an 8.8-inch digital instrument panel sits behind it.
The entire cabin was finished with recycled and sustainable materials, including seat fabric made entirely of recycled polyester. The cabin also has matt paint in all areas where there was previously shiny plastic.
It has backpacks integrated into the seat backs, as well as extensive use of magnets to help hold things like smartphones and metal water bottles, among other things.
Performance
The production car will have multiple powertrain options, but the concept car has an 89kWh battery that delivers a range of more than 595 kmph.
The Skoda Vision 7S concept is built on the same MEB architecture as other Volkswagen Group EVs such as the Enyaq. Given that it seats seven people, it will obviously have a longer wheelbase than the Enyaq.
