According to reports, paramedics and doctors are boycotting OPD and routine services at government hospitals to protest their health risk allowance.
Furthermore, the health department was made aware of the situation, but the paramedics and doctors paid no attention.
Civil Hospital, Jinnah Hospital, Sindh Government Hospital, New Karachi, and other major government hospitals in Sindh remain closed.
The Young Doctors Association (YDA) had previously announced the suspension of routine OPD services in government hospitals throughout the province.
The leaders of the doctors’ association also stated that all staff members in quarantine and emergency units would resume their duties.
The association had informed the hospital administration of the decision, as well as announcing full cooperation with the Sindh government in light of the current situation with COVID-19 cases.
The doctors also emphasized the importance of working together to address the global challenge of coronavirus and urged citizens to remain calm.
Even on Thursday, thousands of patients visiting Karachi’s government hospitals were denied X-rays, ultrasounds, and other tests.
Patients say that the medical staff has been harassing them in the name of a token strike for the past fortnight in Sindh, from Karachi to Kashmore.
The medical staff has locked the OPDs of the government hospitals; in this situation, only the claims of the health department have been made public; the medical staff of the hospitals is defying the health minister’s orders.
