Samsung One UI 9 is now in active beta testing, and it is the biggest software update Samsung Galaxy users will get this year. Announced on May 12, 2026, and rolled out starting May 13, the beta gives Galaxy S26 owners an early look at what is coming. It is built on Android 17 and packs real, useful upgrades across creativity, security, and daily use. For the large Galaxy S-series user base in Pakistan, here is everything you need to know.

What is Samsung One UI 9 and why does it matter?

Samsung One UI 9 is the ninth major version of Samsung’s custom software for Galaxy phones and tablets. It sits on top of Android 17, Google’s latest mobile platform, and adds Samsung’s own features, design choices, and Galaxy AI tools on top.

This is not a dramatic redesign. Since One UI 8.5 already made big visual changes, One UI 9 is more about polish, smarter AI, and stronger under-the-hood improvements. Think of it as Samsung tightening the screws and adding useful new tools rather than painting the whole house a different colour.

Samsung One UI 9 beta: which devices get it first?

The beta started with the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra. The first One UI 9 beta update, based on Android 17, is available for the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra, with a download size of over 3.6GB.

The One UI 9 beta program is available to Galaxy S26 series users in select markets, including Germany, India, Korea, Poland, the UK, and the US. Pakistan is not on the initial beta list, but that is normal. Samsung always starts with a small group of countries and then expands.

Samsung has already rolled out its third One UI 9 beta for the Galaxy S26 series. The update includes the June 2026 security patch and fixes key issues involving the privacy display, camera preview screen, and camera zoom. This shows the beta is moving fast.

Rollout to other devices is expected to start with other flagships like the S25 and S24 series in August and September, then mid-rangers and tablets later in 2026. So if you have a Galaxy S24 or S25 in Pakistan, your update is likely coming before the year ends.

Key new features in Samsung One UI 9

Creative tools

Samsung Notes gains creative new tools, including decorative tapes and a wider variety of pen line styles. The Contacts app now offers direct access to Creative Studio for creating personalised profile cards without needing to switch between apps.

The new Tape feature in Samsung Notes lets you cover parts of your note with tape and reveal them when needed. A variety of new pen styles have also been added, giving more options for writing and drawing. These are small but satisfying changes for students and anyone who uses the S Pen.

Quick Panel redesign

The updated Quick Panel gives users greater control over its layout. Brightness, sound, and media player are each independently adjustable, with more size options to suit individual preferences. This makes it much easier to manage your phone’s settings at a glance.

Samsung has made the display brightness and volume sliders thicker, and the lock screen media player widget has been enhanced with colourful waveform animations.

Security upgrades

Security is a big focus. One UI 9 introduces enhanced protection against suspicious apps and potential threats: when new high-risk apps are detected, it now warns users, blocks execution and installation, and recommends deletion through security policy updates.

One UI 9 introduces support for Memory Tagging Extension (MTE), a hardware-level protection feature built into newer ARM processors. Code discovered inside Samsung’s Auto Blocker app suggests users may be able to enable MTE with a simple toggle.

Samsung is strengthening Auto Blocker in One UI 9 with a new Security Report dashboard that shows blocked app installation attempts over the past week or month. The update also expands Maximum Restrictions mode by fully blocking USB connections when the phone is locked, preventing unauthorised data access.

For Pakistani users who often sideload apps or use shared USB connections, these security tools are especially welcome.

Accessibility improvements

Accessibility is significantly improved by an adjustable Mouse Key speed that enables smoother cursor control and a combined TalkBack package. The new Text Spotlight feature displays selected text larger or more clearly in a floating window to make reading easier.

With the new Select to Speak feature, you can select an item on your screen, like text or an image, and hear it read or described out loud. This is great for users with visual difficulties or anyone who prefers audio content.

Galaxy AI and Gemini Intelligence

The full experience of One UI 9 will be introduced with upcoming Galaxy flagship devices later this year, which will include advanced AI features that will make mobile interaction easy and effortless.

Gemini Intelligence will be available on One UI 9, since it is already a core part of Android 17’s general release. Gemini Intelligence is the next step in on-device AI that Google recently unveiled, and the AI agent can complete multi-step tasks on your behalf.

One UI 9 also brings a new Driving Insights feature that generates AI-powered weekly driving summaries. The system analyses acceleration, braking, steering behaviour, sharp turns, and trip history using the phone’s sensors and location data, and may activate automatically when connected to a car via Bluetooth.

When will Pakistan get the Samsung One UI 9 stable update?

The stable version is expected to launch in July 2026, likely alongside the new Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8. After that, the rollout will spread to other Galaxy devices.

Global expansion for flagship devices is likely in July and August 2026. Older flagships and mid-range devices can expect the update between August and December 2026.

Pakistan typically receives Samsung software updates shortly after the global rollout begins. Users on Galaxy S24, S25, and older flagships should watch the Samsung Members app for update notifications. You do not need to be in a beta country to receive the stable update when it lands.

You can check your update status at any time through Samsung’s official newsroom or via Settings > Software Update on your Galaxy device.

Should you join the One UI 9 beta?

If you have a Galaxy S26 and are in one of the supported countries, you can sign up through the Samsung Members app right now. But keep in mind that beta software can have bugs. The beta program is still in its early stages, so expect some bugs and ongoing improvements in future builds. If your Galaxy phone is your main work device, it is safer to wait for the stable release.

For most Galaxy users in Pakistan, the practical advice is simple: keep your phone on automatic updates, watch the Samsung Members app for notifications, and expect the stable One UI 9 to arrive on your flagship device by late 2026.

Frequently Asked Questions

What phones will get Samsung One UI 9 in Pakistan?

The Galaxy S Series, including the S26, S25, S24, and S23 series, along with their FE and Ultra versions, are all expected to receive the One UI 9 update. Foldables, tablets, and some A-series mid-range phones should also get it, though mid-rangers may receive it later in 2026.

When is the stable One UI 9 rollout expected?

The stable One UI 9 rollout is expected in July 2026, starting with new foldables. The global expansion for flagship devices is likely to take place between July and August 2026. Pakistan users on older devices may need to wait until September or later.

Is Samsung One UI 9 a big visual overhaul?

Since One UI 8.5 introduced major UI design changes, One UI 9 is not expected to bring similarly big visual updates. The focus is on refinements, smarter AI, better security, and improved accessibility rather than a completely new look.

How do I check if my Galaxy device will get One UI 9?

Open the Samsung Members app on your Galaxy phone and look for update notices. You can also go to Settings, then tap Software Update to check for new versions. Samsung usually sends a notification when a major update is ready for your specific model in your region.
