Prime Minister Imran Khan arrived in Peshawar on Wednesday to kick off a registration drive for the Rs. 120 billion Ehsaas Rashan Riayat.
Addressing the launching ceremony at the Governor House, the Prime Minister said, “Ehsaas Rashan Registration is currently underway nationwide. We have launched Rs. 120 billion Ehsaas Rashan Riayat to protect the 20 million underprivileged families from the effects of COVID-induced inflation that has impacted not just Pakistan but the entire world. Overall, the program will cover more than half the country’s population.”
The ceremony was attended by Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Governor KP Mahmood Khan, Shah Farman, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, Dr. Sania Nishtar, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Fawad Chaudhry, and other Ministers and Members of the KP Provincial Assembly.
Senior officials from the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) were in attendance, as were members from Trader Associations and Kiryana Alliances.
The Prime Minister also asked the KP government, notably the Chief Minister, Provincial Ministers, and Members of the KP Assembly, to promote the Ehsaas Rashan Riayat registration push and raise awareness among the poor and Kiryana traders.
Furthermore, he also added, “Low-income families earning below Rs. 50,000 per month can enroll themselves under the Rashan program through 8171. Kiryana shopkeepers can also be enrolled through the web portal.”
Chief Minister Mahmood Khan had earlier stated in his opening speech that the KP government will completely support and assist in the registration and implementation of the Ehsaas Rashan initiative.
Female students at the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Peshawar were also awarded Ehsaas Undergraduate Scholarships based on need and merit.
Following that, Kafaalat payments were distributed to Ehsaas recipient women who had recently been enlisted in the Ehsaas survey.
Following that, the Prime Minister visited with parents and children receiving Ehsaas School Stipends. Ehsaas School Stipends are available to children in all grades, in all districts, from all Ehsaas qualified families, he stated.
So far, the Punjab, KPK, Gilgit-Baltistan, and AJK governments have joined the Ehsaas Rashan Riayat programme.
Later, at the Chief Secretary Office in Peshawar, Dr. Sania co-chaired a meeting with Chief Secretary KP. District Commissioners from all KP districts attended the meeting.
The group reviewed a district administration engagement plan to help families and Kiryana businesses enroll in the Ehsaas Rashan Registration effort.
